Family Court Children's Center

The Family Court Children’s Center provides children a safe environment to play and learn while their parents are in the Albany County Family Court. It provides children an opportunity to escape the often adversarial atmosphere that can develop in Family Court and allows parents time to concentrate on their court matters.

The center’s early childhood staff help to make the families feel comfortable before and after court appearances. The center has specific areas designated for painting, music, blocks, eating snacks, taking naps, computers, and more.

The Children's Center participates in the statewide Literacy Initiative. Each child is given a book to read and take home as they come into the center as part of this program. The center also helps the children and their families by connecting them to vital services such as Head Start, energy assistance, the WIC Program, emergency food, and many others.

The Children's Center receives special assistance through the Friends of Family Court Children’s Center.  This group of dedicated professionals commits generous amounts of time, money and resources every year to keep our center going.  We are very grateful.

On average, the Family Court Children's Center provides care for over 1,200 children each year. The Children's Center operates Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information on the Children's Center, contact:
